Central Pollution Control Board, India defers the process of registration of Producers, Importers and Brand Owners under the PWM Rules

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has notified the Draft Regulations on Extended Producer Liability (EPR) for Plastic Packaging in October 06, 2021 and invited suggestion from General Public within 60 days of notification.

Taking the above into consideration, the CPCB has issued a notice through F. No. B-17011(7)PWM/2021 dated 20-10-2021 wherein the Registration Process for Producers, Importers and Brand Owners under the Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Rules has been kept in abeyance for a period of three months. It has also been mentioned that the same shall be resumed upon final notification of the regulations. The PIBO’s have been advised to realign their E.P.R. plan as per the draft notification. The CPCB will keep the PIBA’s informed from time to time.
